Brief History of Rawalpindi Region
Rawalpindi Region is the largest region of FGEIs system. It was established in 1975. Rawalpindi Region manages 107 institutions (including 10 colleges). Its institutions are located at Rawalpindi, Chaklala, Abbottabad, Attock, Jhelum, Muzaffarabad, Bagh, Kotli, Bhimber, Murree and Barian. FG Sir Syed College Rawalpindi and FG Postgraduate College for Women Rawalpindi are the institutions of national repute. FG Technical High School, Tariqabad Rawalpindi, established in 1928, is the oldest institution of the Region. Rawalpindi Region has always produced very good academic results. In 2013, Syed Ammar Abbas of FG Sir Syed College Rawalpindi stood third in the FBI&SE HSSC Exam. The GPA of institutions in SCC and HSSC remained high. In Co-curricular competitions, the Region has also proved as the Best Region both in men and women colleges categories. Institutions of Rawalpindi Region have produced many renowned personalities. The list includes Malik Abrar Ahmed (MNA), Raza Faisal (Ex Minister KP), Fawad Hassan Fawad (Chief Secy Punjab), Lt Gen Rehan Burni (Ex Surgeon General), Lt Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa (Commander 10 Corps), Lt Gen (R) Javed Zia, Lt Gen Nadeem Taj, Lt Gen (R) Haroon Aslam, Air Vice Marshal Arshad Quddus (Addl Secy MoD) and Brig Mansoor Akhtar are a few among them.
