Brief History of Quetta Region
Regional Office Quetta, established in 1981, is the hardest and most difficult region of FGEI system. Area-wise it is the largest region which is stretched over thousands of kilometers. The region is considered difficult also due to its sparse population having multiethnic backgrounds. 16 FG Institutions, including 2 colleges are working in Balochistan province. Oldest institutions of the region include FG Chiltan Middle School and FG Jinnah Middle School Quetta, which were established in 1946 and 1947 respectively. Other schools of the Region are located at Zhob, Loralai, Sui, Chaman and Khuzdar. There are 6282 students enrolled in these institutions with 221 faculty members. FG institutions are graded as the best amongst all public sector schools and colleges in Balochistan because of their leading results in academics and co-curricular activities. In 2013, students of FG schools won 18 scholarships in Primary and 29 in Middle Standard examinations. The institutions of Quetta Region have been nurturing renowned personalities including Nawab Aslam Khan Raesani (former Chief Minister of Balochistan), Gen Khalid Shameem Wynne, Lt Gen Shahid Hameed, Justice Naseem Akhtar Afghan and Prince Mohi ud Din Baloch (Khan of Kalat) etc.
